What if you could stop time?
A couple of weeks ago, you may have filled out a survey here. Thank you if you did! We’ve been going over those answers with a fine-toothed comb ever since.
One of the most unanimous responses had to do with time..or rather, lack of it. And as I was struggling with how to help with that, I suddenly remembered something that happened to me a long time ago.
If you’ve struggled with “Not enough time” or not enough of, well, anything, try this question. It can make all the difference.

My first step would be to focus on using videos in all my online venues – website, Facebook, Google+ etc. Hopefully this would develop my expertise in using video and tracking how people view it, versus text and link based content.
Thanks for another fantastic video, Steve. I just love the feel and spirit of the videos.
Your idea is sound because not only does it allow you to repurpose content very easily, Google likes to see the same video in several places.

Being comfortable in my own skin in front of the camera is what I’m working toward; delivering without performing; frankly, just being real. You do that in every video I’ve seen since I started working with you, Steven. I marvel at it, admire it, and covet it. I pray to achieve it … soon, please!
Focusing on one thing with laser-precision is a great idea, but focusing with passion, as you write about here, is one of the secret ingredients in your recipe for success!

Thanks for the great content you always deliver! Love to hear that you are a pilot. I got certified as a skydiver in ’99, but I was PETRIFIED of those small planes I had to jump from…lol.
My “to-do” is to start getting videos done without trying to make them perfect. I keep trying to tweak with lighting, sound, etc and need to say “enough is enough” and get my message on video!

Exactly. They will get better over time, but not if you don’t send them out at some point. Get to where you’d give yourself a “C” and make the jump! 🙂

I did that just for you, Rudolf. I just wanted to keep at least one error in there for my sharp-eyed viewers 🙂
Actually, I did notice it, but didn’t feel like re-editing and re-uploading and changing all the links, etc., etc., etc. At some point you just say “it’s good enough” and move on.
The bigger question is, if I had re-edited that part, would it have made the video even 5% better?

I found my peace with the first one but better keep working on the second one…LOL

My first step(s) would be to set up my home office video set. Get my lighting & sound and background done. Then get all these ideas out my Head and on to film… Errr “Chip”!

Great story, Steve! I drive by a regional airport every morning on my way to work; I’ve never asked myself “what if I could fly?” I took your survey last week and noticed the question about a course using an iphone 5; then I bought one when I upgraded my mobile phone plan. Now, I’m interested in learning how to use it for videos. I even found a website today (lifeisaprayer.com) where the writer reviewed different external microphones to use with an iphone. How cool is that?

Wish I had sound quality like that! 🙁 But I DID purchase the mic adapter you recommended for my iPhone and it already shipped yesterday! I also downloaded the FiLMPRO app you recommended. If I can figure out how to use it, I might be able to do another video for you by Tuesday. 🙂
